Wining and dining in McLaren Vale: A feast for all the senses
1st November 2024 | 4 min read
Residents in South Australia enjoyed a special day at the famous d’Arenberg Cube on the Fleurieu Peninsula, forming new bonds over fine wine, a lunch to savour and priceless art.
It might be going to a matinee performance at the ballet. Cheering on the local football team from special box seats. Or taking in a movie.
In the case of residents from Everard Park and Aldinga Beach Care Communities and accompanying team members, it was a triple treat for the senses: wine tasting, a fabulous meal and a special viewing of artworks by a European master, all in the one place - the d’Arenberg Cube in beautiful McLaren Vale.
Our residents got their big day off to the best possible start by tasting some of the outstanding red and white wines the region is famous for before settling down to a delicious lunch at d’Arry’s Verandah Restaurant.
If that wasn’t special enough, residents were thrilled to see an exhibition of artworks and bronze sculptures by Salvador Dali. With more than 25 genuine artworks from the Spanish master on show, residents were both inspired and overawed by the experience.
“Our residents chatted the whole way home, discussing their experience from the day,” says Anne, wellbeing officer at Everard Park Care Community. “It was such a rewarding sound to hear while driving the bus back home!”
ENJOY is designed to augment the day-to-day experiences that support inclusion, belonging and a sense of purpose for residents at our Care Communities.
The program makes incredible experiences available to our residents. Recent outings include Leonardo Da Vinci – 500 Years of Genius at The Lume in Melbourne, watching a game of footy at the MCG from a corporate box, and going along to blockbuster musicals like Beauty and the Beast and Wicked.
