Acknowledging National Sorry Day at Hamlyn Terrace

26th May 2026 | 3 min read

Residents, team, and visitors at Hamlyn Terrace Care Community on the Central Coast of NSW gathered to acknowledge National Sorry Day, also known as the National Day of Healing, on Tuesday, 26 May.

Our First Nations residents and team, led by residents Gail and Christine, spent several weeks designing and painting 100 hands to display on our lawn – our ‘Hands of Unity’ was a deeply personal, respectful tribute to members of The Stolen Generations.

Morning tea with lemon myrtle cake prepared by our chef was followed by songs and stories from First Nations entertainer Daniel.

At Hamlyn Terrace, National Sorry Day was an opportunity for all residents, team, families, and visitors from across the local community to come together in a meaningful way; honouring culture, listening and learning, and fostering understanding and inclusion.
