Our Community

Taking an active role in the community is at the heart of our approach to care. To us, community means nurturing important relationships both inside and outside the home, encouraging peoples' hobbies and interests, offering or receiving a helping hand when it’s needed, providing companionship and stimulation, and enabling our residents to continue to contribute to society in ways that are meaningful to them. In the community our residents, families, and team have a sense of place and belonging.

We welcome the community into our Care Communities and we encourage our residents to participate in community life. Whether it’s intergenerational programs with children from pre-kindy through to high school, having pets living in our Care Communities or as regular visitors, mothers groups meeting in our lounge rooms, or volunteers young and old spending time with us – our residents and team thrive on connection with others.

We are proud of our residents’ contribution to the community through giving of their time, talents and service. Knitting teddy bears for the local fire brigade to give to children in distress, baking scones for fundraising at the local fair, helping kindy children learn to read – our residents regularly give of themselves to serve their communities.

Our Care Communities host a range of events throughout the year. Concerts are always popular, as are art shows, spring fairs, and even night markets. And equally important, our residents participate in community events that nurture their spiritual, cultural, sporting or other interests. Our Wellness Centres are open to residents and community and offer an inclusive environment to achieve reablement and restorative care goals.

Community is very much part of the fabric of life in our Care Communities.
