Residents ENJOY a day at the ballet

What’s all the song and dance about? For residents at Warrnambool Place and Warrnambool Riverside Care Communities, the answer is pure enjoyment, rekindling precious memories, and forming new friendships.
For residents living without cognitive decline, our ENJOY program offers wonderful experiences and the chance to build new connections with like-minded people at other Care Communities.
And a breathtaking production of Snow White by the Victorian State Ballet at Warrnambool’s Lighthouse Theatre showcased how our ENJOY program creates cherished memories for our residents.
“Our residents just couldn’t stop smiling,” said wellbeing manager, Lisa. “Right after the show, one of our residents turned to me, a little teary but with a big smile, and told me the performance was just beautiful.”
For Brian, the matinee performance recalled his early life singing and playing the flugelhorn and cornet with the Shipley Wesleyan Reform Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society of Yorkshire. A seasoned showman, Brian performed in stage classics like Showboat, Fiddler on the Roof, The Pirates of Penzance, Patience, and Yeomen of the Guard.
“I had a lovely time,” said Brian. “It reminded me of my performing days and brought back such happy memories.”
The sentiment was shared by Margaret, who said: “This is one of my best days out!”
After their magical day, our residents can’t wait for the next adventure.
