This Opal Healthcare aged care home was previously part of the Bluecross network and called Cresthaven. It came highly recommended to our family and we have been impressed with the high standard of its accommodation, facilities and services. We researched several places, and this was by far the best. The enthusiasm and commitment of the activities co-ordinator at Malvern East Horizons deserves special praise, in offering an interesting and diverse program each week, and connecting with all residents. Above all, the quality of care provided by the nursing staff and carers, and the professional engagement of the management team deserve a mention, particularly in light of the many staffing and resourcing challenges, and operational difficulties they face as part of working in the aged care industry. Our father has settled in well to life here and he is well looked after.

Our mother (90 years old) has been a resident at Malvern East Horizons since late 2024. We do not regret in any way our decision for her to settle into Horizons as her final long-term home. This facility is a ‘home’ in the truest sense of the word. Both the physical surroundings and the level of service are well above average – and we know that our mother is genuinely cared for by the staff there. When we recently had cause to formally give difficult feedback about the actions of a particular member of staff, our concerns were taken seriously and addressed professionally, comprehensively and constructively. Even beyond that, we have been impressed at the way in which our specific detailed feedback has led to significant positive change with both the staff member in question and the overall quality of care in the aged care home. In fact, the level of change has been beyond our greatest expectations. It is great to know that the accountability systems in place are genuine and not just tokenistic – and lead to the betterment of all concerned. We have recommended Malvern East Horizons to other families and will continue to do so.
