Living the dream

Ray Holley Skydive

From a young age, Ray Holley has always dreamed of flying high and recently he took a step closer with his first ever skydive from a plane 14,000 feet above the ground. Ray, aged 91, is a resident of our Berkeley Vale Care Community and is always one to try something new. His desire to try skydiving stemmed from missing a ride in a fighter jet while he was in the navy in the 1950s. Ray regretted missing out and has always looked for something that would provide the same thrill.

He was very excited when our Berkeley Vale team and his family organised his skydive.

“It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time, and I finally got the chance,” Ray said.

“The scenery was just beautiful to take in, it’s a whole different world up there.”

Ray’s son, some mates from his ocean swimming club ‘Terrigal Tuffs’, and team and residents from Berkeley Vale were all there to provide Ray with some moral support.

Ray hasn’t let go of his ultimate dream though and hopes to one day ride in a fighter jet from the Williamstown airbase.
