Songs from the Heart
12th June 2019 | 5 min readThe residents of Blacktown Terrace have written a collection of songs exuding love, laughter, and often poignant memories - but above all, celebrating lives well-lived.
Their repertoire of songs is increasing weekly, including many original pieces. They recently received a great boost with the addition of a grand piano which will be used to accompany the other instruments. Roy, who is a founding member of the group is pictured here tickling the ivories and filling the Blacktown Terrace lounge with wonderfully soothing melodies.
Music as a form of therapy can also be such a powerful tool in meeting the emotional, cognitive, and social needs of older people, particularly if they are living with dementia.
