Having a really good hair day!
17th April 2020 | 5 minsMaintaining a positive and joyful atmosphere for our residents is at the heart of what we do at Opal. We strive to deeply get to know our residents and their likes and dislikes, so that we can support their participation in activities that are stimulating and meaningful to them. It’s also important to have some fun! Activities that will make people laugh and enable a sense of inclusiveness are vital to life in our homes.
The current situation with COVID-19 is impacting everyone in our communities, and it’s understandable that people may at times feel anxious or overwhelmed. At Bairnsdale Parklands we decided we needed to focus our attention on something positive. Our weekly themed days are always popular with our residents, so we decided to go all out for Crazy Hair Day! It brought so much laughter and excitement to our home and we were able to see just how creative we all can be. Our team and residents had a ball spray painting hair in loads of crazy colours, and inventing new hairstyles, including a toilet paper ponytail, and cupcake piggy tails! Our resident, Carolyn resplendent in pink hair and a black dotted nose, won “Best Hair.” Our favourite comment of the day was: “I’ve never heard so much laughter and joy! What’s the theme next week??!”
