Be alert to scams

Please remain vigilant for scams and fraudulent communications that may falsely claim to be from Opal HealthCare or other trusted organisations.
Opal HealthCare has not experienced a data breach in connection with this advisory – this is precautionary advice to help our residents and families recognise and avoid impersonation scams.
The following information may help you protect you and your loved ones from scams:
Scammers may contact you by email, SMS, phone, social media or through a false website. They may ask for personal or financial information, passwords, verification codes or payment, or pressure you to act urgently.
Opal HealthCare will never ask you to provide your credit card details, bank account details, passwords, verification codes or other sensitive financial information by email or SMS.
If you receive an unexpected communication:
- Do not click links, open attachments or share personal details unless you’re confident the message is genuine.
- Never provide passwords, verification codes or banking details in response to an unsolicited request.
- If you’re unsure about anything or to verify a request, please call us using the contact details from our official website (www.opalhealthcare.com.au) or by calling our Billing Customer Service team on 1300 200 653. You can also confirm our authorised bank details by visiting www.opalhealthcare.com.au/billing
- If something feels wrong, you should stop the transaction or conversation immediately and if money or banking information may be at risk, contact your financial institution immediately.
- If you think you’ve been scammed, you should act quickly and report the scam to your local police and to your bank as quickly as possible.
If, in the unfortunate event that you do fall victim to a scam, we encourage you to also report the scam to ScamWatch, and ReportCyber as well as to us as the provider. Reporting scams helps increase awareness and prevent future scams.
