Ian Burge - Chief Operating Officer
“The leaders at our Homes are critical to the outcomes for our residents and their families. Inspiring and capable leaders create a special care home where each individual is valued and our teams will feel empowered to go above and beyond for the residents they care for. At Opal it is our aspiration that you feel and see this at each one of our care homes across the country.”
Ian joined Opal as Chief Operating Officer in January 2018. He recognises the vital role that our people play in providing a personal and meaningful experience for our residents and families, and that as well as delivering exceptional high-quality clinical care, it’s the many small daily interactions that really make a difference to our residents and their families. His focus is on creating the culture, career development opportunities and structure that will support our 8,500 people to continually deliver exceptional and compassionate care for our residents.
Prior to joining Opal, Ian had over 20 years of experience in the aged care sector for not-for-profit and private organisations. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management from Western Sydney University and a Master’s Degree from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management.
