Our Opal HealthCare Refer a friend program is a great opportunity for all existing Opal HealthCare team to successfully refer a friend for a job with us and get an added financial bonus.

Commonly asked questions about our Refer a Friend Program

  • The sum of money paid depends on the role for which you refer your friend.

    The finder’s fee is paid to the existing team member when the new team member completes their 6 months qualifying period.

    We are offering:

    • $5,000 for General Managers
    • $3,000 for Care Managers
    • $2,000 for Registered Nurses
    • $1,500 for Enrolled Nurses, Chefs and Lifestyle Coordinators
    • $1,000 for Carers and all other roles
  • You are paid after your friend completes 6 months in their role.

    To claim:

    • Complete a Refer a Friend Form (from your General Manager or via OMS in The Village).
    • Submit it to the listed email for validation.

    Important: If the referral is not declared on the original application or mentioned at interview, it cannot be confirmed or paid.

    If you see a role that may suit a friend, you can:

    • Use the Share icon on the job ad, or
    • Provide the Job Requisition number (e.g., Req #1122).

    When applying, your friend must:

    • Select Yes to being referred by an Opal team member.
    • Enter your full name and care community (or your Employee ID if you choose to share it).
  • If a role isn’t listed online, it means the care community doesn’t currently have an active vacancy. 

    Roles can open at any time, so we recommend:

    • Check the Careers page regularly, or
    • Create an account and set up job alerts.

    All applications must be submitted online.

  • When your friend submits their online application, they must clearly indicate that you referred them. To ensure the referral is recorded correctly, they need to:

    • Select Employee Referral under “How did you hear about this job?”
    • Provide your name, role, and care community (or Employee ID).

    These details allow the system to track the referral accurately.

  • When you or your friend select the “Refer a Friend” option in the application form, the system will ask for the referring team member’s details (name, email, care community, and employee number).

    Once submitted, the candidate’s application is automatically flagged with: “This applicant has been referred by another employee.”

    This flag ensures the recruiter can clearly identify the referral and credit the correct team member.

  • Yes, everyone is required to have a current police check to work in aged care. If you do not hold a valid check Opal HealthCare can organise this for you as part of the recruitment process.

    We also conduct two (2) reference checks and a medical check which may include pre-employment drug testing.

  • Yes Opal HealthCare offer sponsorship for Registered Nurses only. We offer 482 sponsorships with a pathway to 186 permanent residency.
