Balance and Strength
4th May 2021 | 2 mins
At our brand new state-of-the-art HCA wellness centre in Kawana Waters Care Community, balance and strength are two of the key drivers for engaging our residents to work towards tangible benefits in their rehabilitation and restorative care.
Elwyn has been on the balance and resistance program from our launch and she has enjoyed every session! Elwyn has a vision impairment, which means that social interactions can sometimes be difficult. She can often feel fatigued and the amount of extra concentration needed can be overwhelming. Since joining the wellness centre at Kawana Waters Care Community Elwyn has met a lovely group of ladies and has been able to focus in a friendly environment with the added benefit of enjoying exercise. - Jayden Allen-Waters, Senior Physiotherapist
“I feel at home in the gym, I used to be very much into exercise before coming into the home and when I still had my vision. Being here with Jay and the ladies really makes me feel welcome and normal. Every time I attend a session with Jay I know that I have bettered myself physically and feel like I have achieved something. Being blind I know how important and essential balance is, and the exercises I do with Jay and the ladies, I can honestly feel myself improving and feeling way more confident in my abilities. I may be in my 80’s but I feel years younger being in the centre with Jay” -Elwyn
The update on Elwyn's journey first appeared in the April 2021 newsletter of our partners HCA
